Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla

“On International Women’s Day we celebrate women all over the world. The truth is, we must celebrate women every single day. No home, community, society, or country can flourish unless we do. As human beings, we need to work together to build a world where every woman is safe, secure, and empowered. As family, friends, colleagues and co-citizens, we promise to ring the bell by upholding those values in our workplace, in our spheres, and in all that we touch. Join Breakthrough and one million men. Make your promise today.”

More about Abu and Sandeep:
Abu Jani was born and raised in Mumbai, India’s most cosmopolitan city. From an early age, Abu was exposed to a high style world filled with sophisticated women, cinema and wealth. Sandeep Khosla is a son of Kapurthala, an erstwhile Principality of Punjab. He attended The Doon School, one of India’s most prestigious public schools, where he excelled at the extra curricular, including theatre, tie and dye, batik, drawing, painting and carpentry. The Summer of 1986 witnessed a chance meeting between Abu and Sandeep. It took only hours for them to strike a creative and personal rapport that they have referred to as “magnetic”. A pull that made them decide instantly to combine forces. Their first collaboration a signature collection, which they named, ‘Mata Hari’. And with it the birth of India’s leading Couture House.

They have been Breakthrough’s partners since our inception eleven years ago. They have been integral to our mission to use media, arts, and culture to inspire action on urgent human rights issues, including violence against women and HIV/AIDS. Along their journey of creating stunning clothes, products, and homes, they have always lived by their own values – and have been vital ambassadors for human rights everywhere.
